If you are anything like me, maybe you have had a lot of close encounters with Patchouli oil over the years. This is famously a scent used by extreme hippies to cover up their body odor, and they all seem to overdo it by using way too much. It isn't pretty. Full disclosure- I am absolutely a hippie myself. I just enjoy showering and smelling good. It's kind of a thing with me. Ha! When I got my hands on a bottle of Young Living's Peace and Calming- my gateway oil that started my whole obsession- I was really shocked to learn it contained Patchouli, and that I actually liked it- more accurately, I LOVED it. I also learned it had some great benefits beyond covering up BO- and that it was very likely the strong smell I was used to for all those years was "perfume grade" oil that a)had no benefits and b) was clearly too strong and overpowering. Patchouli went on my "want" list but I never actually got it- so I was super excited to see it offered FREE is this month's promos! I now have my bottle in my possession and I am forever changed. Young Living's Patchouli is nothing like I was used to. It smells great, and it is much "lighter" than what you might expect. Young Living's Patchouli comes from Indonesia and this oil has a long history. Patchouli was one of the substances found in King Tut's tomb, along with Frankincense and Spikenard. These were not essential oils as we know them today, as they did not have steam distillation methods at that time. Turns out Patchouli has many benefits, including: ~Skin support of all types, but especially great for supporting aging skin ~Calming and comforting (I feel this benefit a lot myself) ~Uplifting ~Digestive support ~Scalp and hair support ~Respiratory support ~Can help set the mood and support healthy libido ~Help support normal body temperature ~Immune system support ~Support healthy joints ~Endocrine system support ~Assist in keeping you "annoyance free" outdoors I also read that Patchouli may help relax and clarify thoughts, allowing one to move past jealousies, obsessions and insecurities. WOW! I have been enjoying adding it to my Sandalwood face cream along with a drop of Frankincense. It is great for my "over 40" skin and the scent of those two wonderful oils hangs out for a while, calming and comforting me. I also added it to my daughter's "calming and focus" blend. This is an oil I will never want to be without again! Patchouli can also be found in the following Young Living products: Abundance, DiGize, Live With Passion, Magnify Your Purpose, Orange Blossom Face Wash, Peace and Calming, Rose Ointment, Allerzyme and Animal Scents Ointment. It's another month and Young Living does not disappoint with their monthly promotions once again! Here are the details.I am pretty excited about some of these, namely the Patchouli, which I have been wanting for a long time. It smells so good and is amazing for skin. It's not the Patchouli you may be used to. I love how Young Living rewards members for making big purchases- at this point, my family has transferred much of our personal care products and household products to Young Living, so we do spend a lot each month. No other company I purchase from gives me such rewards for shopping with them,. Thank you Young Living, I will enjoy my free oils and extra points this month for sure!
